Built to Be the Best.
Every practice has a purpose. Every rep has a standard. Every player has a path.
Skill. IQ. Character.
Middle school is the most important window in a basketball player's life. Skills, habits, and identity are formed here. Our practices are intentional — not random drills, not just scrimmages — but structured sessions that build on themselves week after week.

What We Coach
Shooting form, ball-handling, footwork, finishing, defense, rebounding, and screening — refined every single practice with a focus on the details that actually show up in games. Players get repetition, correction, and a clear standard for what good looks like at every skill.
Reading defenses, understanding spacing, recognizing rotations, knowing when to attack and when to move the ball. We teach players to see the game two steps ahead — not just execute plays, but understand why the play works and what to do when it breaks down.
Live reps under game-like pressure. Players learn to read defenders, react in the moment, and trust their instincts. Every drill is designed to force choices — because that's what basketball actually is, and that's what separates good players from great ones.
Players are encouraged to take their shot, make their read, and own their mistakes. Confidence is earned through reps.
We teach captains and connectors. Vocal leaders, work-rate leaders, and lead-by-example leaders all have a place.
Talking on the court and lifting teammates up. Communication is a skill — and we coach it like one.
Mistakes are part of the game. We use practice as the place to make mistakes, learn from them, and improve so players are prepared when it matters.
High School Preparation
Preparing players for the next level is one of the biggest things Michigan Magic does. Every practice, every rep, and every standard we hold is built with the next steps in mind.
- Coaching with the standards high school programs expect — accountability, effort, and attention to detail.
- Building the physical habits that translate: footwork, defensive stance, conditioning, and off-ball movement.
- Developing basketball IQ so players can pick up new schemes and terminology quickly at the next level.
- Exposing players to real high-level competition so nothing feels unfamiliar when they take the next step to high school.
- Teaching how to be a great teammate — the players high school coaches want to keep around.
- Creating mental toughness through pressure reps, adversity, and honest feedback.

Built for Games
The standard stays the same every practice. Every session focuses on the skills players will actually use in games: game situations, in-game decision-making, and performing under pressure when it matters most.
Reps + Feedback
Growth comes from intentional reps with immediate feedback. Coaches stay engaged, point things out in real time, and follow up with the team as a whole as well as with players individually.
On & Off the Court
Growth comes on and off the court. We measure skill gains, IQ, energy, leadership moments, and how players carry themselves as teammates and as people.
